What are you reading?

I hate to say this, but I think I have to take a break from my good friend VH-1. We've had good times waxing nostalgic over the 80s, and their "Celebreality" programs are the best in mindless entertainment.
Unfortunately my steady diet of fluff is turning me into a stammering fool. Words with more than three syllables have been deleted from my mind to make room for memories of the last episode of "I Love New York."
I didn't have this problem when I lived in Germany. I don't speak German, and, much to my chagrin, American imports are even dubbed (messing up my perception of "The Golden Girls" forever!). The boredom drove me to rifle through my wife's library, hoping to find anything written in English.
All I could find was the second Harry Potter installment which, to my dismay, wasn't bad. It's true, Harry Potter stoked my appetite for books and my collection grew in leaps and bounds.
I'm back in the states and, in true Purvis form, the only new books I've acquired have been school-related. Every now and then I'll thumb through some old favorites, but I've read them so many times they've become stale. I need some suggestions… I'm looking at you here, readers.
From now on, this portion of The Activist will be reserved for your suggestions. What are you reading now? What books have made a serious impact on you?
Include your name and any other pertinent information you want to share and send your suggestions to me at.
You can use this as a platform to spread the word about your favorite book or, my personal favorite, as a way to lord your vast literary repertoire over your friends
If nothing else, do it for me. I have no time to go to a book store and browse and it's impossible to watch Oprah to see what she's making her book club read. Judge Judy is on at the same time.

You have answered your own question - now read the rest of the seven Harry Potter books.
Tip: Read them in the right order - the enjoyment is enhanced that way, as they are not each wholly self contained, and knowledge of earlier books enhances enjoyment of the later ones! :-)
