Blue Ash honors RWC's Poetry Month celebration
Issue date: 6/1/09 Section: News
Although National Poetry Month (NPM), which is celebrated each April on the RWC campus and across the nation, is over, it still has official life locally. This year the City of Blue Ash issued a proclamation, signed by the mayor, proclaiming April 2009 the 10th Anniversary of RWC's National Poetry Month celebration.
City proclamations promoting National Poetry Month are encouraged by the Academy of American Poets, the founding organization of NPM. They provide models for the proclamations and post them on their website, www.poets.org. Professor Rhonda Pettit of the English Department worked with Ginny Hizer, head of RWC College Relations, to create a proclamation and get it signed.
Currently the proclamation is being digitally photographed by Pete Bender of eMedia Services so it can be posted on the Academy of American' Poets' website. The proclamation will later be framed and displayed in a yet-to-be determined location in the college.
