In April of 2010, during the annual National Poetry Month, RWC will be holding its 4th Annual Song Writing Contest with two amazing prizes.

The contest is open to all college and high school students in the Greater Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky area: more information to follow.

Willis Music has provided the prizes for the Song Writing Contest for the past four years and will be providing them again this year. The two prizes for this year are a Sequoia Model 91 acoustic guitar with gig bag and a free recording session in The Sound Workshop.

The Sound Workshop is located at the Willis Music Superstore in Florence, Kentucky. Ric Hopkins, who has covered rock and roll bands for over forty years, runs the studio. According to their advertisement, the Studio is a performance hall, where musicians can do a live recording with an audience, or a normal studio recording, using ProTools, over 30 studio-quality microphones, hi quality mic preamps, and a grand piano, all in an acoustically designed studio and mixroom.

The winners will be announced during the Poetry Cafe evening, which has traditionally closed the month-long celebration of poetry at RWC. Professor Rhonda Pettit of the RWC English Department coordinates the Poetry Month activities at RWC.
