Do you ever wonder what it is like to work as a library student assistant? From shelving books, to shelf reading the call numbers on books, to checking in and out books, to cleaning public areas. With the busy rush and the lonely downfall, what is there to do in between?

During the busy times, the students of RWC check out the books that professors put on reserve for two-day use in the library. Although some books can be checked out for overnight use or a three-day loan, students at RWC sometimes choose to come in at the same time.

I am a library student assistant, so when I first started working at the Library, it was pretty tough to balance out how to get books to one student without killing another student's opportunities to check out the same book. What I have managed to do is keep track of the times that the book should be returned to the front desk, and that helps everybody.

"I thought it would be a lot busier at night than the day," said the newest member of the library student assistant staff, Michael Carper.

One of the good things about being a student and working in the Library is the studying that you can get done. It's a relaxed feeling and a quiet environment, so therefore a lot of studying can be done. Carper agreed that the Library has a relaxed feeling when it is not busy.

Working as a library student assistant can get tough if you don't know the answer to someone's question. Then it's hard, but you have circulation help as well as the help of the librarians. I like working in the Library and helping students discover new things.
