This year marks the 25th anniversary of media production in the Electronic Media Department here at RWC. Twenty-five years ago, Michael Sanders, Director of the Electronic Media program, set in place an affordable form of production that utilizes staff members in order to create works for the College itself as well as outside clientele.

The benefits of having a media production facility within the school are extensive. It gives the College quick and easy access to an onsite production team, the department receives recognition and revenue from external clients, helping to pay for new equipment, and the students of the program receive education from industry professionals who work in the field everyday.

"It has created an incredibly rich learning environment for our students," said Professor Sanders.

The official celebration will occur during Spring Quarter, complete with a student and staff produced documentary looking back at the last 25 years of the program, including customer and faculty interviews as well as archival photographs.

So what's in store for the future of the program?

"We hope to move aggressively into more pervasive media production, raise the profile of the College across the region, and continue to engage faculty, staff, and students, while increasing linkages between other bachelors programs like DAAP and the College Conservatory of Music," Sanders explained.

So join in the celebration this spring. Here's to 25 years of media production!
